MLB: Blue Jays acquire Yunel Escobar, Braves acquire Alex Gonzalez in a 5 player trade
The Atlanta Braves traded SS Yunel Escobar, and P Jo-Jo Reyes to the Toronto Blue Jays for SS Alex Gonzalez, P Tim Collins, and SS Tyler Pastornicky.
Yunel Escobar was a hot topic in 2009 but the Braves were selling too high for teams. Escobar if traded last year could of reeled in a top prospect but now with his poor year they got less. Escobar will replace Alex Gonzalez at shortstop and will provide some future there. The Braves who I guess got impatient with Escobar will get a powerful bat in Alex Gonzalez. Gonzalez has 17 homers, and 50 RBI’s which exactly the power bat they need to stay ahead in the NL East. Gonzalez is going to be a hot topic in fantasy baseball because he should get more RBI opportunities. Prediction for Gonzalez: 31 Homers, 108 RBI’s.
