MLB: Jim Edmonds traded to the Reds, Wakamatsu fired, plus other News

The Milwaukee Brewers trade OF Jim Edmonds to the Cincinnati Reds for OF Chris Dickerson. Edmonds who did not play at all in 2009, got an opportunity from the Brewers this year. Edmonds has been a nice surprise or the Brewers as a solid off the bench player. Edmonds before being shipped to the Reds was batting .286, had 8 Home Runs, and 20 RBI’s.

The Seattle Mariners fire head coach Don Wakamatsu. Wakamatsu was hired in 2008 replacing interim head coach Jim Riggleman. Wakamatsu hasn’t panned out how the Mariners expected. The Mariners coming into this year was expected to a top team in the AL West but are 42-70 this season. Change was expected, change was needed, and change is what will happen.

Oakland Athletics top prospect Chris Carter who was acquired from the Diamondbacks via the Dan Haren trade in 2007 is expected to be called up and make his big league debut.

Utility player Cody Ransom who was designated for assignment by the Philadelphia Phillies has accepted to join the Phillies Triple A team

OF Jeremy Hermida who was designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox wasn’t claimed and has been outrighted to Triple A
