NFL: Keith Bulluck to the Giants, News, and Rumors

The New York Giants sign OLB Keith Bulluck (1 year, 2.5M). Bulluck will move from outside linebacker to middle linebacker. Before the signing of Bulluck the Giants had Jonathan Goff, and Phillip Dilliard. Both are young untested players, so Bulluck should not only add veteran presence but become a leader for these young guys.

The St. Louis Rams are in hot pursuit of free agent WR Terrell Owens. Owens would immediately add much needed experience to a young wide receiving core. He will also help out rookie quarterback Sam Bradford as a reliable target. The Cincinnati Bengals also are interested in Terrell Owens. Chad OchoCinco is pushing the Bengals to sign his PIC (Partner In Crime).

Denver Broncos re-sign pro bowl OLB Elvis Dumervil (6 years, 61.5M). Dumervil got what he wanted in a long contract after possibly holding out. Dumervil recorded 17 sacks under Mike Nolan’s defense. Now under Don Martindale we will see how explosive Dumervil is with the blitz packages.

Miami Dolphins sign DE Marques Douglas (2 years, 2.5M). The Miami Dolphins opted to sign the ex-Jet defensive end over trading for DE Marcus Spears of the Dallas Cowboys. The Dolphins needed a DE after losing Phillip Merling for the season with a torn Achilles’ tendon

New York Jets C Nick Mangold to report at training camp despite contract issues

Dallas Cowboys put TE Martellus Bennett was placed on the non-football injury list with an ankle problem. He suffered the injury in workouts, not under Dallas Cowboys supervision.

San Diego Chargers have a few star players unhappy. WR Vincent Jackson who is suspended for 3 games is not expected to play this season if his contract doesn’t get reworked. The Chargers and Jackson haven’t talked since mid-june which shows they have accepted his absence. OLB Shawne Merriman has skipped minicamp and hasn’t said that he will report to training camp or not. OT Marcus McNeill is not expected to talk with the Chargers soon about contract issues, which could lead to another holdout.

Free Agent RB Lendale White seems unwanted as he has yet to receive any calls from an NFL team after his release from the Seattle Seahawks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers put OT Willie Colon on Injured Reserve and signed G Adrian Jones.

New York Jets DT Kris Jenkins was pondering retirement this year after coming off of his second major knee operation.

New England WR Wes Welker who is coming off surgery of a torn ACL is expected to participate at training camp on day 1.
