The Stanley Cup Finals is living up to it’s potential in being the biggest series of the year. The Flyers have fought back from down 0-2 in the series to take Game 3, and now Game 4. Exactly what the doctor ordered is a 2-2 series that will at least bring us hockey fans a Game 6 no matter what. Game 4 the Flyers beat the Blackhawks 5-3 in a very exciting game. The Flyers came out shooting in the first and scored 3 goals on Antti Niemi led by the Captiain Mike Richards, Matt Carle, and the streaky Claude Giroux. The Blackhawks added a goal in the first as well scored by Patrick Sharp. The second period was a defensive battle as both defenses and goalies shut down each other. No goals were scored so heading into the 3rd it was still 3-1 Flyers. The Flyers opened the 3rd scoring a goal scored by Ville Leino to put the Flyers up 4-1. The Blackhawks fired back and scored 2 goals in under 4 minutes to make it a 4-3 game and possible comeback. Dave Bolland and Brian Cambell were the goal scorers. From then on Michael Leighton stone walled the Blackhawks and didn’t allow any goals. The Flyers sealed the deal with an empty net goal scored by Jeff Carter to finish the game at 5-3. An exciting finish and series no doubt. Game 5 is on NBC at 8pm eastern on Sunday. Pattern shows the home team always wins in this series which will get us to a Game 7 which would be great. Let’s see if the Blackhawks can continue the pattern or the Flyers can disrupt it and steal one on the road.
Yeah and next we’ll be debating oil spills! 🙂
