Chris Weidman was supposed to fight at UFC 155, but had to pull out with an injury. A bummer too because a fight against Tim Boetsch would definitely of helped his case to fight for the belt. Then again, Anderson Silva is eyeing other people, and has made it known that Weidman is not ready for him. So, if Weidman is going to change his mind, a fight against the Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold should do. Rockhold was supposed to fight on Strikeforce’s January Card, but pulled out due to an injury. With both these guys on the sidelines for right now, I think a fight in the foreseeable future will have to do. It could very well be a number one contender fight too.
Hector Lombard vs Mark Munoz
Hector Lombard was finally able to showcase his skill set against Rousimar Palhares, as he absolutely dominated him. The only reason I have this match up is because of the beef Lombard and Mark Munoz have. Munoz had said that Lombard was fighting cans, and then possibly being able to fight for the belt was absurd. Although Lombard called out Michael Bisping, pending Belfort doesn’t get hurt…that fight won’t happen if Bisping wins. Bisping is guaranteed the next title shot, So I think Lombard should just get on streak by destroying his haters first.
Cung Le vs Chris Leben
Pending Chris Leben can win in his return at UFC 155, how about the fireworks this fight would bring? Two striking juggernauts, toe to toe… I’m not sure Leben can handle Cung Le’s kick arsenal, but then again he is a zombie so, he will keep going forward. I think this is a fan favorite fight, and easily has fight of the night written all of over it.
