NFL: Guess Who’s Back….Brett Favre, News, and Rumors
Brett Favre is back at it again for his 20th NFL season. After another long awaited Brett Favre saga, Favre is committed to another run at the Super Bowl with the Minnesota Vikings. Favre has played 309 straight games and now counting. Three of Favre’s closest Vikings friends Ryan Longwell, Steve Hutchinson and Jared Allen visited him in Mississippi seeking an answer. They appeared to of gotten him as he flew back to Minnesota on August 18th to return to the Vikings. Again another year of the Brett Favre saga but I have to say i’ll be looking forward to the Vikings and Saints rematch game to start the season.
Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin who has been bothered by severe migraines all week, collapsed and was taken away by an ambulance. The effects of the migraines caused him to vomit, and lose his vision. Harvin has suffered from these migraines since he was 10.
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald most likely will sit out the preseason with a strained knee. Madden Curses can be haunting.
With Thomas Jones slated as the Chiefs starting running back this leaves Jamaal Charles as the backup running back most likely but for the most part his role is uncertain.
Washington Redskins WR Mike Furrey is out for the season with concussion problems. He is also pondering retirement but won’t make his decision until winter. Furrey is on of the silent great on the field and off the field players in the NFL.
Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith was taken off the PUP list and return to practice looking good. Smith though is expected to miss the whole preseason, just to be safe.
Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow is likely to miss the next preseason game with a rib injury that occurred in his debut game verse the Bengals. He was hit pretty hard right as he was scoring
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Michael Clayton doesn’t seem to me in the mix for a starting role, he hasn’t had a bad camp but hasn’t done anything starter worthy as well.
The Houston Texans placed rookie RB Ben Tate on the IR with an ankle injury
The Buffalo Bills quarterback battle is brewing with Trent Edwards in front.
Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller will be watched at and could raise his stock with Fred Jackson, and Marshawn Lynch banged up with injuries.
Buffalo Bills Tight end battle currently has Jonathan Stupar leading the pack. Stupar is battling Shawn Nelson among others for the spot.
The New York Jets are trying to trade QB Kellen Clemens. The Jets currently have 4 quarterbacks Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell, Kevin O’Connell and Kellen Clemens. Clemens probably has more value than the other guys but not by much.
Buffalo Bills S Jarius Byrd underwent surgery to repair a groin injury. The recovery time is uncertain but it could make him miss some regular season time.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Derek Ward might be on the outside looking in as he hasn’t looked all that good in camp. Kareem Huggins is impressing the Buccaneers to a point that he could get some snaps come season time.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are having a quarterback battle featuring Luke McCown and David Garrard. Garrard has been safe of his job in previous years but McCown is pushing him to the limit.
A lingering knee injury is haunting Cincinnati Bengals WR Antonio Bryant and could force the Bengals to eat up 10 million and release him. They certainly have many targets and releasing him although he is good won’t take much away from a lethal Bengals offense.
Baltimore Ravens RB Willis McGahee is still being thrown around in trade talk. The Ravens like what they see in Jalen Parmele.
WR Brandon Jones is on the radar of several teams including the Vikings, Titans, Seahawks, and the Raiders
Washington Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth missed practice again for heat related reasons. The heat seems to be getting to Haynesworth as he has been dehydrated and now missed his 3rd straight practice.
Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez is unsure if he will play next year and it all hinges on what the team does. Gonzalez craves for a ring, and if the Falcons are a playoff team. Gonzalez could play in 2011.
Washington Redskins WR Malcolm Kelly who is being bothered by a hamstring injury hasn’t practice in awhile and could be on the bubble for a roster spot.
