MLB: Chipper Jones out for the year, News, Acquisitions, and Rumors
Atlanta Braves 3B Chipper Jones tore his anterior cruciate ligament and will require surgery. After already saying he would think about retiring come season end, it could now be sooner than we thought. This is pending on whether this injury will make him decide to call it quits although it is possible he could be back for one more season. The recovery time from the surgery would be 6 months.
New York Mets P Francisco Rodriguez was arrested for assault on Wednesday Night. Rodriguez was freed without Bail on Thursday, Mets put Rodriguez on the restricted list. This means he can’t play the next 2 games and will not be paid for the 2 games.
Suspensions have been handed out for the St.Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds Brawl. Cincinnati Reds P Johnny Cueto has been suspended 7 games, Manager Dusty Baker has been suspended 2 games, and St.Louis Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa has been Suspended 2 games. Players were also fined including Reds 2B Brandon Phillips, P Russ Springer, and Cardinals C Yadier Molina, and P Chris Carpenter. Cueto, Baker, and La Russa have also been fined.
