UFC: Recently signed Jake Shields to fight Martin Kampmann
Newly signed Jake Shields first match isn’t a easy one. He is on tap to fight Martin Kampmann (17-3, 8-2 UFC). Kampmann has been on the rise in the Welterweight division and recently beat Paulo Thiago who beat the likes of Mike Swick and welterweight contender Josh Koscheck. Jake Shields is already considered a top 5 welterweight fighter. This means that a win verse Kampmann will catapult him to be in a contender bout. It could take 2 matches to reach George St. Pierre who Dana White probably is hoping for. The fight is targeted possibly for UFC 121 which is headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez. UFC 121 is in California in which Shields is from and I’m sure he’d love to fight in front of his home crowd.
