NBA: Matt Barnes to which team? (Heat, Celtics, Mavericks, Magic, Lakers)

Miami Heat

Starters: PG Mario Chalmers, SG Dwayne Wade, SF Lebron James, PF Chris Bosh, C soon to be Zydrunas Ilguaskas

Key Bench Players: Mike Miller, De’Sean Butler, Udonis Haslem, Dexter Pittman, soon to be Juwan Howard and Joel Anthony.

Playing Time: De’Sean Butler is rehabbing but should be ready but if Barnes signs he is instantly the backup Small Forward for Lebron James. Now that Mike Miller signed who also can play both Guard and Forward, Barnes wouldn’t get as many minutes as he would like. He would be on the team that has one of the best chances at a ring though.

Boston Celtics

Starters: PG Rajon Rondo, SG Ray Allen, SF Paul Pierce, PF Kevin Garnett, C Jermaine O’Neal

Key Bench Players: Kendrick Perkins, Glen Davis, Avery Bradley, Luke Harangody, and soon to be Nate Robinson

Playing Time: Could be a good spot for Matt Barnes to go. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are aging which means more minutes for Barnes. Also Tony Allen is gone and he can fit right into that role. Possibly could be the 6th man of the year in Boston.

Dallas Mavericks

Starters: PG Jason Kidd, SG Rodrigue Beaubois, SF Caron Butler, PF Dirk Nowitzki, C Brendan Haywood

Key Bench Players: Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, Jose Juan Barea, DeShawn Stevenson, and Tyson Chandler

Playing Time: If Shawn Marion plays backup power forward then maybe Matt Barnes gets good minutes. That is unlikely because Shawn Marion has played small forward for most the season and is better suited there. So I don’t see this as a ideal spot for him to go.

Orlando Magic

Starters: PG Jameer Nelson, SG Vince Carter, SF Mickael Pietrus, PF Reshard Lewis, C Dwight Howard

Key Bench Players: Chris Duhon, Quentin Richardson, Brandon Bass, Ryan Anderson, Marcin Gortat, Daniel Orton, and now J.J. Redick

Playing Time: If Matt Barnes re-signs he will be back as the starting Small Foward. This is his best spot to grab all the playing time he wants. The team looks different too in a good way. Additions like Quentin Richardson, Chris Duhon, and Daniel Orton really add to the bench.

Los Angeles Lakers

Starters: PG Derek Fisher, SG Kobe Bryant, SF Ron Artest, PF Pau Gasol, C Andrew Bynum

Key Bench Players:  Steve Blake, Lamar Odom, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, Derrick Caracter, Devin Ebanks, and soon Shannon Brown

Playing Time: This could be a nice spot for Barnes. It is a great opportunity to play with the best in the Lakers, who have won 2 consecutive Championships. His minutes will be good, and he gets to play with great players. Champions are made in LA and i’m betting Barnes is thinking the same thing.
