Artest delivers as Lakers beat Celtics to Win Game 7

on

In a game where Kobe struggled to hit a shot Ron Artest and Pau Gasol managed to pick him up. Kobe Bryant shot 6-24 but managed to score 23 points. His physical play played dividends in the game. He grabbed 15 boards and got to the line often where he went 11-15. Pau Gasol grabbed 18 boards, had 2 blocks, and scored 19 points. Gasol kept the Lakers in the game with his 9 offensive rebounds and down the stretch aggressiveness. The big help came from Ron Artest who not only played his defense but played a big part in the offense. Ron Artest scored 20 points and hit a clutch 3 down the stretch. Artest got the pass from Kobe only to see Pierce not right on him. Artest faked with his right foot throwing Pierce off from coming straight at him only to pull up a breathtaking shot. As it went it the Lakers went up by 6 with 1:01 left, which also proved to be the dagger as the Celtics could never recover. Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom played well combining for 17 points and 8 rebounds. The Celtics had good play from several players although falling short. Garnett played big as he scored 17 points, and had 4 blocks. Rondo almost had a triple double scoring 14 points, dishing out 10 assist, and grabbing 8 rebounds. Pierce scored 18 points, went 2-3 on 3 pointers, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Ray Allen was almost non existent which proved to be the Celtics downfall. Ray Allen shot 3-14 and besides his 32 point performance hasn’t really factored into helping the Celtics this series. Celtics also had almost no bench play with the only points coming from Glen Davis who scored 6 and grabbed 9 boards. Kendrick Perkins was missed dearly because the Lakers out rebounded the Celtics 53-40 with 23 of them being offensive rebounds.Overall a great effort by both teams, a thrilling series, and a game 7 to remember. Despite a poor shooting game, we saw that offensive rebounds win games. As Basketball fans this is what the NBA is all about. A series that gives us a Game 7 between two super giants. Game 7 was just a cherry to top of a great NBA season.
