Oswalt asks Astros to trade him

May 21, 2010

Roy Oswalt asked the Houston Astros to trade him today. The 32-year-old Oswalt has a no-trade clause in his contract. He is willing to waive it now. Roy Oswalt is 2-6 with a 2.66 ERA. He is having a silent solid season. The Astros have failed to produce for Oswalt and are currently in last in the National League Central at 14-27. Roy Oswalt knows he has a few good years left in him and would rather be on a winning team.
Oswalt has already expressed that he has interest in 3 teams: Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and Texas Rangers.

The Mets could become possible suitors especially with John Maine heading to the DL, Oliver Perez to the bullpen. One problem is they might not have the money for him. Gary Matthews Jr could be cut due to his batting struggles and the Mets are willing to eat up his contract.
