NFL: Ray Lewis set to retire after playoffs

The 17 year NFL veteran Ray Lewis is set to call it quits after the playoffs. Lewis has spent all of his career as a Baltimore Raven, and has tallied over 1,500 tackles. Lewis is most notable for being one the more popular players in league due to his unique pregame motivation tactics.  Combined with his ability to mentor young players, he certainly has stood out as one of the best leaders in football. Lewis has had a storied career, and definitely will be a Hall of Famer. The question is though, will he enter with one super bowl ring, or two?

To me, this is rather shocking news. I knew his time was coming to a end soon, but I didn’t think this would be his last season. The Baltimore Ravens are going to have some shoes to fill, and I’m even skeptical about how long Ed Reed has until he is gone too. Anyways, Lewis should find a job as analyst, and will always be connected to football. I don’t think he has anything left to prove, which could attribute to calling it quits. Or maybe the injury he sustained, and just the wear and tear his body has taken over the years. The life of an NFL player is tough, and Lewis certainly gave 110%, and left it all on the field.

NFL: Tim Tebow’s Short Lived Jets Stint

Posted by KDog13 on December 24, 2012

Well whatever the intent of the Jets was to trade for Tim Tebow, I’m sure that will want to be forgotten. The way this season has gone for the Jets will also want to be forgotten. I think the biggest blow though for Tim Tebow was not starting this week, and he sounded off about it letting it be known that he didn’t want to be involved in any Wildcat packages. I honestly can’t blame him. This season has just been a drag, and the whatever the Jets wanted of Tebow, it certainly never came to fruition. I guess Jersey’s were sold, and the name Tebow in New York was popular at least. Next time the Jets trade for someone, don’t talk about how he is going to be a big part of the offense, and not be able to utilize him throughout the entire season. Hell, if the Jets want to salvage anything, start him week 17. His value can’t be any lower, and if he can put together a solid performance, he can haul in a 6th round pick. I’m almost certain he will be gone, at least I think he feels the same way. The Jaguars seem like the perfect spot too, and I’m sure he will be very lucrative to that franchise.

The Sport Report NFL Predictions: Week 15

Posted by KDog13 on December 18, 2011

Green Bay Packers @ Kansas City Chiefs

Score: Chiefs 237 – Packers 24

Spread: Chiefs (+13.5)

Note – I have no idea why I would pick against the Packers, especially this year. I just have a gut feeling about this “Trap Game”. It’s in arrowhead stadium (very loud), Orton is starting for the Cheifs, No Greg Jennings, and basically the Chiefs play very well at home. I’m not sure why but I think this is very possible.

Carolina Panthers @ Houston Texans

Score: Texans 31 – Panthers 17

Spread: Texans (-6.5)

Note – This game just comes down to the Texans offense which is still a solid one, compared the Panthers offense which also is solid. Next, the Defense defense is amongst the best, and the Panthers amongst the worst. Take the Texans in this game.

New Orleans Saints Minnesota Vikings

Score: Saints 31 – Vikings 27

Spread:  Vikings (+7.5)

Note – I was really liking the Saints here but there defense is just not what I thought it was. The Vikings should have plenty of opportunities to keep this game close which I think they do but Bree’s will be too much in the end.

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills

Score: Dolphins 27 – Bills 17

Spread: Dolphins (+0.5)

Note – The Dolphins offense really got shaken up against the Eagles, after Long and Moore exited it was sack after sack. Previously though there were a bunch of turnovers that killed the Dolphins. The Defense was great though and I expect that to factor into this game too as the Bills are seriously slumping still.

Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts

Score: Titans 33 – Colts 17

Spread: Titans (-6.5)

Note – The Titans should roll even if Hasselbeck leaves the game at any point, Locker has proved he is ready. Easy game for the Titans to get back into the mix of the wildcard.

Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears

Score: Hawks 17 – Bears 13

Spread: Hawks (+4.5)

Note – Marshawn Lynch is carrying the Hawks, and with Hanie at the helm of the Bears still….I expect Lynch to have a 30 carry day. Bears defense is tough but the offense is a joke, I’m taking the Hawks here.

Cincinnati Bengals @ St. Louis Rams

Score: Rams 23 – Bengals 21

Spread: Rams (+5.5)

Note – Another weird upset feeling. I just think the Rams are going have a really good day but then again the Bengals always beat the opponents they should. Im sticking with the Rams here in a weird win.

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos

Score: Patriots 24 – Broncos 13

Spread: Patriots (-6.5)

Note – I don’t think there will be Tebow magic this time around but you have to love the way the Broncos have been playing. I just think the Patriots are going to make him throw a lot more, and it will pay dividends. Close game though but no Tebow final drive script this time, if there is though…awesome!

Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders

Score: Raiders 27 – Lions 24

Spread: Raiders (+0.5)

Note – Raiders have been god awful and I really wanted to pick the Lions but I feel urgency coming from this game. The Raiders will play desperate and I think it will pay off, we will see though.

Cleveland Browns @ Arizona Cardinals

Score: Cardinals 31 – Browns 17

Spread: Cardinals (-6.5)

Note – I like how Zona’s been playing of late, hell I called there last 2 upsets. This is an easy game to win for them, watch the Cards creep into the wildcard picture…when healthy they have a nice team!

New York Jets @ Philadelphia Eagles

Score: Eagles 35 – Jets 31

Spread: Eagles (-2.5)

Note – I feel a shootout coming, and I’m going to take the Eagles based on quarterbacks.

Baltimore Ravens @ San Diego Chargers

Score: Chargers 24 – Ravens 20

Spread: Chargers (+2.5)

Note – I just think this is another game where the Ravens confuse fans, for example: Seahawk, and Jaguars game. The Chargers are nothing special but the offense if coming together now with Floyd healthy. I think the Chargers pull this one off.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ San Francisco 49ers

Score: Steelers 20 – 49ers 15

Spread: Steelers (+0.5)

Note – Battle of the defenses, and for a change an amazing MNF game. I don’t expect that much scoring but the Steelers offense is much more potent then the 49ers. 49ers offense has equated into too many field goals, and I expect the same here as well.

The Sport Report NFL Predictions: Week 14

Posted by KDog13 on December 11, 2011

Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets

Score: Jets 20 – Chiefs 13

Spread: Chiefs (+8.5)

Note – The Jets beat the Redskins last in a game where the score actually tells you a lie of how actually close the game was. Never the less, the Jets pulled it out and are in the midst of the wildcard. I expect them to beat the rather lucky Chiefs (Hail Mary TD) but in a close game, Chiefs defense will keep them in it.

  Houston Texans @ Cincinnati Bengals

Score: Texans 26 – Bengals 17

Spread: Texans (+2.5)

Note – Yates played better then I thought but I knew they would be fine with him at quarterback. Andre getting hurt again is a problem for the Texans and Yates. Cincinnati got destroyed last week and continued it’s woes against teams with winning records. Expect that to continue as the Texans will have a solid run game, and the defense will cause havoc for Dalton.

Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions

Score: Lions 38 – Vikings 20

Spread:  Lions (-7.5)

Note – The Lions are losing there grip in the NFC wildcard race after dropping yet another game. As for the Vikings, they lost in a great game. A good thing that came out of it was Ponder who looked great. Expect the Lions to roar and come out swinging, to keep there playoffs hopes intact.

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers

Score: Falcons 31 – Panthers 27

Spread: Falcons (-2.5)

Note – Falcons lost a tough game last week but that just credits how good the Texans defense is. Matt Ryan’s numbers would horrible. Newton and the Panthers are on a 2 game win streak and have looked good on offense. I don’t mention defense because with all the injuries, they can’t play a lick of D. Consider that the X Factor giving the Falcons the win.

New Orleans Saints @ Tennessee Titans

Score: Saints 24 – Titans 17

Spread: Saints (-3.5)

Note – Although this game seems likely for a higher score then I have here, I think defenses will actually be the factor. The Saints offense is nothing but stellar, and the Chris Johnson is starting to flash some of the old CJ2K. Some reason, I think the defenses will be present.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Score: Bucs 27 – Jaguars 20

Spread: Bucs (-0.5)

Note – Bucs got blown out by the Panthers, and Jaguars got blown out by the Chargers. Although Freeman was hurt for his game, and Gabbert actually played his best game despite the loss. Given that, I think the Bucs can take this game easy especially with the Jaguars defense being so rattled by injuries.

 Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens

Score: Ravens 30 – Colts 17

Spread: Colts (+16.5)

Note – Ravens should win this but the way Orlovsky played for the Colts, they will keep games close and eventually win in week 17.

New England Patriots @ Washington Redskins

Score: Patriots 25 – Redskins 17

Spread: Redskins (-7.5)

Note – I think the Patriots could have problems in this game but they should come out on top, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see Washington upset them given the more inspired ball they been playing.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Miami Dolphins

Score: Dolphins 33 – Eagles 17

Spread: Dolphins (-2.5)

Note – I think the Dolphins are going to win again, although my score might be a little too much. I did predict last weeks upset + destroying the Raiders. Eagles have Vick back but he will only do so much finally coming back.

Chicago Bears @ Denver Broncos

Score: Broncos 27 – Bears 10

Spread: Broncos (-3.5)

Note – No Cutler, no Forte….one word Tebow! Although the D could give him a tough time, the way the Bears plays he should have lot’s of opportunities.

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

Score: Cardinals 20 – 49ers 17

Spread: Cardinals (+3.5)

Note – I called the upset over the Cowboys, I’m calling this one right now. The 49ers are for the most part all defense, and I expect errors on offense to put the Cardinals in good spots to score.

Oakland Raiders @ Green Bay Packers

Score: Packers 38 – Raiders 20

Spread: Packers (-11.5)

Note – Packers squeked out a win over the Giants in a sick last last drive by Aaron Rodgers while the Raiders got stomped on in Miami. Given Oakland’s injuries, stick with the Packers beating them up.

Buffalo Bills @ San Diego Chargers

Score: Chargers 27 – Bills 20

Spread: Chargers (-5.5)

Note – The presence of Malcolm Floyd was huge for the Chargers, and will be huge again. Expect the Bills to give them fits but in the end Rivers will emerge and get the job done again.

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

Score: Giants 23 – Cowboys 17

Spread: Giants (+3.5)

Note – Not to jump the gun but I think this Cowboys team is talented but overrated due to there schedule. I called the Cardinals upset, and I’ll take the Giants here. This game is a proving ground game for both teams. Can the Giants make the playoffs, and can the Cowboys just show that last game was a fluke.

St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Score: Seahawks 34 – Rams 13

Spread: Seahawks (-6.5)

Note – Two back to back stellar Monday Night Football games, haha. I’ll enjoy this though, cause it’s football. The Seahawks should put a stopping on the Rams who might be calling the Replacements soon.

The Sport Report NFL Power Rankings: Week 14 (Late + Will include Thursday’s game)

Posted by KDog13 on December 9, 2011

1.  Green Bay Packers (12-0) (Even) A great last drive by Aaron Rodgers to keep the Packers undefeated. I’d say this next game could be a problem but the Dolphins took a dump on the Raiders. But, then again…any given Sunday.

2.  New Orleans Saints (9-3) (Even) – The Saints offense is amazing, if the defense can just limit teams to 20 points then the Saints are always going to be in business.

3.  Baltimore Ravens (9-3) (Even) – Ray Rice ran wild on the Browns defense, who seem like they cant stop any running back. Rice is in store for another solid game as they face Indy.

4.  San Francisco 49ers (10-2) (Even) – The defense once again remained solid which is clearly evident by the shutout, and the offense came alive a bit with some long touchdown. As long as the offense can put up td’s, the 49ers should win.

5.  Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) (Even) – After destroying the Bengals, the Browns put up a bigger fight then I thought they would. Big Ben is one tough SOB though, and got them the W. Week 15 is a big game with a possible Super Bowl favorite in the 49ers.

6.  Houston Texans (9-3) (Even) – Yates did what he could and it was enough to beat good football team in the Falcons. The defense continued to prove why it’s among the leagues best though.

7.  New England Patriots (9-3) (Even) – Although they won, the defense in the 4th quarter was terrible. The Colts a game out of what appeared to be at first a blowout. The offense is a lock, the defense is the key to opening the door for a successful playoff run.

8.  Denver Broncos (7-5) (+8) – Tebow is now 6-1 as a starter this year, and he has now helped the Broncos to first place in their division. Once again led the team in an epic game, and comeback win.

9.  New York Jets (7-5) (+4)  - A game where the score tells you a different story. A defensive game that late in the 4th, the Jets finally started to pour it on offensively. Relatively easy game for the Jets in the Chiefs are next.

10.  Dallas Cowboys (7-5) (-2) – The Cowboys are a talented club but let’s face it, look at their schedule up until this point. It’s been padded for success. I still think they can beat some good teams but as far as Super Bowl, i’m not leaning towards that.

11.  Atlanta Falcons (7-5) (-2) Matt Ryan had a terrible game which goes to credit the Texans defense. The had ample times to score though, and failed. Playoff hopes will be on a week to week basis as there right there in the pack.

12.  Oakland Raiders (7-5) (-2) – What a let down in a game where the 3-8 at the time Dolphins blew you out. Next game doesn’t get any easier either with the Packers.

13.  Tennessee Titans (7-5) (+4) A nice road win and it seems Chris Johnson is starting to come alive finally. This is a good sign and a perfect time with the wildcard staring right at them.

14.  Chicago Bears (7-5) (-3) – Hanie I thought I saw something but nothing seems to be there. It’s evident the defense keeps them in games and Hanie has been the focal point in loses. Forte now being hurt really diminishes the once sure playoff bounded team chances.

15.  Detroit Lions (7-5) (-3) – Luckily for the Lions, there is no apparent team for the second wildcard spot. A rather easy game finally for the Lions against the Vikings, they need a win to stay with the pack.

16.  Cincinnati Bengals (7-5) (-2) – Blown out by the Steelers and once again Dalton struggled against a good team. It looks like Bengals need to face more under .500 teams if they are going to be in the playoffs.

17.  New York Giants (6-6) (-2) – Gave the Packers all they could but in the end Rodgers lead a relatively easy and quick drive to finish them off as time expired. Good news is the Cowboys lost, and now they face em. This game will tell you what the Giants playoff shots will be at.

18.  Seattle Seahawks (5-7) (+1) – Too bad they couldn’t beat the Redskins 2 weeks ago, they’d be right in the mist of the wildcard battle. To boot, they have an easy game against the Rams on MNF.

19.  Arizona Cardinals (5-7) (+4) – Kolb came back a week too soon for the Cowboys. Not technically eliminated, but don’t be surprised if the Cardinals sneak into the mix. This of course pending on if they can pull off another upset over the 49ers.

20.  Miami Dolphins (4-8) (+6) – They absolutely dominated the Raiders and are arguably becoming the hottest team in the NFL. The Eagles are next, but can they blow them out too?

21.  Kansas City Chiefs (5-7) (even) – An odd win to say the least. As time expired in the second half, Palko threw a hail mary that would be batted down but into a Chiefs hands for a touchdown. That was Palko first td throw, and they won 10-3 meaning his first win as a starter. Talk about a WOW moment.

22.  San Diego Chargers (5-7) (even) – Hey, finally a win but I called it in the predictions. I had a feeling the offense would be in for a big night. They have Buffalo this week but then the next 3 games will be playoff chances (if there are any) defining.

23.  Buffalo Bills (5-7) (-5) – I said it since they beat the Patriots, that this team isn’t as good as meets the eyes. The fast start, downward spiral has occurred before. Defense will be the focal point of the draft for the Bills for sure.

24.  Philadelphia Eagles (4-8) (-4) – Vick is back but at this point, the “Dream Team” is all but a nightmare.

25. Carolina Panthers (4-8) (+5) – Cam Newton had a game for the ages, things are looking up for the Panthers next year.

26.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-8) (-1) – Curious what the off-season plans might entail for the struggling bucs.

27.  Washington Redskins (4-8) (even) – They battled all game and then collapsed late in the 4th. They eventually were routed in a game where the score tells a different story.

28.  Cleveland Browns (4-9) (-4) – I’m not sure about McCo’s status next year but it’s looking gloom. I’d expect the Browns to look at a quarterback come off-season.

29.  Jacksonville Jaguars (3-9) (even) – Gabbert had his best game on MNF but it resulted in a loss no less. I could see another quarterback coming in to start over Gabbert who doesn’t appear to be ready just ready.

30.  Minnesota Vikings (2-10) (+1) – Ponder had another great week but in the end, the forces of Tim Tebow were too strong for the Vikings. +1 in the ranking despite that loss, Rams are clearly  worse then the Vikings.

31.  St. Louis Rams (2-10) (-1) – Shut-out, the Rams are just hoping for the season to end soon.

32.  Indianapolis Colts (0-12) (Even) – The way Dan Orlovsky played last week should give the Colts some hope to win one game in their next four. I’m banking on their meeting against the Jaguars in their last game of the season.

The Sport Report NFL Predictions: Week 13

Posted by KDog13 on December 4, 2011

*Sorry for Lateness*

New York Jets @ Washington Redskins

Score: Redskins 24 – Jets 23

Spread: Redskins (+3.5)

Note – The Jets should have never beaten the Bills especially how they played. The Redskins have been very competitive since the re-emergence of Rex Grossman into the lineup. Both these teams haven’t been consistent, and I expect a close game. I see an upset here and I’m going with the Redskins.

 Atlanta Falcons @ Houston Texans

Score: Falcons 20 – Texans 17

Spread: Falcons (-2.5)

Note – The Texans are ailing at quarterback although I believe they will be fine in the later weeks. The Falcons are rolling lately and should continue that. Falcons take a close game.

Denver Broncos @ Minnesota Vikings

Score: Vikings 23 – Broncos 20

Spread:  Vikings (-0.5)

Note –  No AP still but they played a good game against a solid Falcons team minus the goaline stop. Tebow has created waves in Denver but the defense should be credited as well. I like the guy who can throw here in Ponder.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Score: Steelers 31 – Bengals 24

Spread: Bengals (+7.5)

Note – Bengals should keep it close the way they have been playing and especially after seeing how Pittsburgh played last week. I like Pittsburgh though as Andy Dalton struggles against good defenses.

Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills

Score: Bills 24 – Titans 17

Spread: Bills (-1.5)

Note – If not for Stevie Johnson’s drops the Bills would of been in the thick of a playoff race. Instead they face the Titans who are knocking at the wildcard door. Season is gloom in Buffalo but they have a chance still. I like what I say last week from the Bills, and I give them the edge.

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Score: Panthers 34 – Buccaneers 24

Spread: Panthers (+2.5)

Note – Should be a high scoring game with both teams being bottom tier, I like Cam so I’m picking the Panthers.

Indianapolis Colts @ New England Patriots

Score: Patriots 34 – Colts 17

Spread: Colts (+20.5)

Note – No brainer win for the Patriots here

Kansas City Chiefs @ Chicago Bears

Score: Bears 25 – Chiefs 13

Spread: Bears (-8.5)

Note – Although Hanie struggled I liked what I saw in the 2nd half from him. The defense was absolutely great and they will be facing Tyler Palco this week. Bears should take this easily.

Oakland Raiders @ Miami Dolphins

Score: Dolphins 30 – Raiders 13

Spread: Dolphins (-2.5)

Note – I truly see the Dolphins destroying the Raiders here, reason is half the Raiders team is injured.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns

Score: Ravens 27 – Browns 10

Spread: Ravens (-6.5)

Note – The Ravens defense will be too much for the Browns as usual, and look for McCoy to have a mediocre game.

Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals

Score: Cardinals 27 – Cowboys 23

Spread: Cardinals (+4.5)

Note – Kolb is back and I really feel an upset here. The Cardinals play well at home and the boys struggle on the road. Cardinals will shock some people but I dont think there that bad of a team.

St. Louis Rams @ San Francisco 49ers

Score: 49ers 22 – Rams 13

Spread: Rams (+13.5)

Note – 49ers don’t dominate anyone because there offense isn’t as solid as it should be. The defense flat out wins games for them as you’ll see in this game as well. Rams keep it close but they wont get to the defense.

Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants

Score: Giants 34 – Packers 33

Spread: Giants (+6.5)

Note – Should be a wild shootout but I have the Giants in this huge upset. Eli Manning looked great last week but the defense did not play up their norm. Packers can be exploited via passing which I believe Eli and the Giants will do.

Detroit Lions @ New Orleans Saints

Score: Saints 40 – Lions 27

Spread: Saints (-7.5)

Note – A shootout but I just don’t think the Lions are ready this year. Brees should pick them apart especially with Jimmy Graham.

San Diego Chargers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Score: Chargers 34 – Jaguars 20

Spread: Chargers (-2.5)

Note – The Chargers will finally show up I believe in a game too little too late. What a MNF game though, should be interesting to see 2 teams that will both eventually see coaching changes. Jaguars already shuffled around the staff, expect the Chargers too soon as well.

Thursday Night Game Prediction

Posted by KDog13 on December 1, 2011

Philadelphia Eagles vs Seattle Seahawks

A battle between 4-7 teams who both last week seen there leads disappear, eventually losing. The Eagles lost was more severe and you would of never guessed by the final score that they even were up 10-0 at one point. Anyways, Vince Young will lead the Eagles again with Vick still injured. McCoy is banged up (will be limited), Maclin, and DRC are out. Asomugha is active all though not 100%. As for the Seahawks Tarvaris Jackson is hurt but still will start

Going to make this brief, the Eagles should win this game despite playing in Quest Field. Although hampered by injuries, they still have a better team than the Hawks. Tarvaris being banged up affects the offense and as long as he is in, they won’t have much success. Vince Young can be the offense if need be and showed that he could still sling it last week. Too bad for a few key drops, Young would of had stat wise an incredible game.

Prediction:

Eagles 31 – Seahawks 17

The Sport Report NFL Power Rankings: Week 13

Posted by KDog13 on November 30, 2011

1.  Green Bay Packers (11-0) (Even) They easily dismantled the Lions which I thought was one of their tougher test. Make no mistake though, this Giants game is a tough one as well.

2.  New Orleans Saints (8-3) (+1) – The Saints offense is clicking and stopping it….seems very unlikely.

3.  Baltimore Ravens (8-3) (+2) – A hard-fought and solid win for the Ravens. They no doubt seem a playoff team but they do need to continue building consistency.

4.  San Francisco 49ers (9-2) (-2) – The loss is probably good for them to see what needs to be fixed. Its clear-cut though that the defense is solid and the offense needs work.

5.  Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3) (-1) – I’m not sure why the Steelers didn’t show up on SNF. They won ugly but games like this are often reflected at come playoff time.

6.  Houston Texans (8-3) (Even) – Another injury to the quarterback is devastating. The 3rd string rookie T.J Yates will now be in charge, with Delhomme waiting in the wing. They should win the division based on ground game + defense but come playoffs it will be a foggy situation.

7.  New England Patriots (8-3) (Even) – The schedule is in the Patriots favor, and they should be clinching the division in a couple of weeks.

8.  Dallas Cowboys (7-4) (+2) – Another close victory but the last drive was solid. Not only did they drive down the field with ease but they wasted all the time for a time expiring game winning field goal.

9.  Atlanta Falcons (7-4) (+3) Matt Ryan was great, and added another win for the Falcons who are starting to become consistent.

10.  Oakland Raiders (7-4) (+3) – The Raiders special teams is so good that they hands down won a game for the Raiders, Bravo.

11.  Chicago Bears (7-4) (-3) – The Bears defense was solid but unfortunately Hanie’s turnover lost them the game. He looked good at the end of the game which presents some promise….

12.  Detroit Lions (7-4) (-3) – Not only did they get schooled on Thanksgiving but now they lost Suh for 2 games for his actions during that game. I believe their playoff hopes either live or die against the Saints.

13.  New York Jets (6-5) (+1)  - The Jets were sloppy but got the win which keeps there playoff hopes alive.

14.  Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) (+1) – They battled back and didn’t luck they got in that game for granted. The Bengals will face the Steelers next, could define if their a contender or not.

15.  New York Giants (6-5) (-4) – Playoff hopes are getting dimmer by the week for the hot starting, now cold Giants. But, I don’t believe there done yet even though the Packers are next.

16.  Denver Broncos (6-5) (even) – Tebow is now 5-1 as a starter, and is doing great things. But, the defense should be given it’s credit as well for it’s strong play during this stretch.

17.  Tennessee Titans (6-5) (+1) Hasselbeck wasn’t great but somehow, somewhere….Chris Johnson came to the rescue. Hopefully for the Titans sake this wasn’t a one game thing.

18.  Buffalo Bills (5-6) (-1) – Too bad Stevie Johnson was too busy coordinating his Plaxico Burress touchdown celebration instead of catching.

19.  Seattle Seahawks (4-7) (even) – It will be interesting to see if they address the obvious need for a QB in the off-season.

20.  Philadelphia Eagles (4-7) (even) – A season chalked full of hope looks to be just about over pending some dramatic 9-7 finish.

21.  Kansas City Chiefs (4-7) (even) – What I don’t get is that Gailey still going with Palko for another week.

22.  San Diego Chargers (4-7) (even) – Turner should be on his way out soon.

23.  Arizona Cardinals (4-7) (+3) – Beanie Wells stole the show, boy he showed them why he should be the starter.

24.  Cleveland Browns (4-7) (-1) – Once again, they had another win turn into a loss from a mistake.

25.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7) (-1) – Freeman couldn’t work his 4th quarter magic again, but at this point losing is the better option.

26.  Miami Dolphins (3-8) (-1) – They played very tough and had chances to win the game but settled for field goals which defines Sparano….settling for less.

27.  Washington Redskins (4-7) (even) – Seems the Redskins are playing better with Grossman at the helm then Beck.

28. Carolina Panthers (3-8) (+3) – A closer win then I thought. The Panthers are a receiver, and some defensive players away from being a potential contender.

29.  Jacksonville Jaguars (3-7) (-1) – Looks like the Jags aren’t sold on Gabbert, i’m not either.

30.  St. Louis Rams (2-9) (-1) – I bet Bradford cant wait for next year, too many injuries have plagued their season.

31.  Minnesota Vikings (2-9) (-1) – Well they played a tough game but when they had a touchdown in sight they failed to execute all 4 times. At least Ponder is looking good.

32.  Indianapolis Colts (0-11) (Even) – Apparently the Colts think that Luck will want to be a Colt and spend 3 years as a backup…think again.

The Sport Report NFL Predictions: Week 12

Posted by KDog13 on November 27, 2011

*Too bad I didn’t get a chance to post my thanksgiving picks, I went 3-0*

——-

Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets

Score: Jets 23 – Bills 17

Spread: Bills (-7.5)

Note – Jets need a win here more then ever if they are going to make a run at the wildcard. As for the Bills there is still life but this is the last chance to pull it together. I see the Jets D being the factor in this game that brings the Jets a W.

 Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Score: Texans 27 – Jaguars 13

Spread: Texans (-3.5)

Note – Matt Leinart begins his reign for the Texans against the Jaguars. A good enough defense to say this is a decent test. Leinart will be fine in my opinion and eventually clinch the division for the Texans. The Jaguars under utilize MJD (arguably there best player), and Gabbert hasn’t been aggressive at all. I see this as an easy win for the Texans, giving the ground game should pick up Leinart.

Minnesota Vikings @ Atlanta Falcons

Score: Falcons 31 – Vikings 17

Spread:  Falcons (-8.5)

Note –  The Vikings will be without AP which should define the game quick. No running game = predictable passing game. The Falcons should easily win this game given also that Julio is back.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals

Score: Browns 23 – Bengals 20

Spread: Browns (+7.5)

Note – I think this could be a trap game for the Bengals. The Browns although rather boring, tend to keep games close and competitive. While Dalton has looked good, he is prone to mistakes which I believe will cost the Bengals the game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Tennessee Titans

Score: Buccaneers 24 – Titans 23

Spread: Bucs (+2.5)

Note – Both teams need a win desperately here, and I believe it will come down to the 4th quarter. I’ll give the edge to Josh Freeman, who will add another 4th quarter victory to his stats.

Carolina Panthers @ Indianapolis Colts

Score: Panthers 34 – Colts 13

Spread: Panthers (-3.5)

Note – Should be a blowout here and a day for Cam Newton to have enough highlights to make movie.

Arizona Cardinals @ St. Louis Rams

Score: Cardinals 20 – Rams 17

Spread: Cardinals (+2.5)

Note – Skelton gets the nod again after his poor performance last week. He has seen the Rams before and seemed to have figured them out in the 4th. I expect a close game but the edge going to the Cardinals and Patrick Peterson.

Chicago Bears @ Oakland Raiders

Score: Bears 25 – Raiders 23

Spread: Bears (+4.5)

Note – Although Hanie is now in for Jay Cutler, I still think the Bears are a good team. If Hanie can limit his turnovers, they should be fine. The defense will be a headache for Carson and ultimately help take down the Raiders.

New England Patriots @ Philadelphia Eagles

Score: Eagles 30 – Patriots 23

Spread: Eagles (+4.5)

Note – The Eagles have a good shot here being that the Patriots defense is one of the worst. If the Eagles can get strong linebacker, I think they can stop Brady enough to win. As long as they watched what the Chiefs did to Brady early, they can build off that.

Washington Redskins @ Seattle Seahawks

Score: Seahawks 27 – Redskins 19

Spread: Seahawks (-4.5)

Note – I like the Hawks at Quest field in this one. They are certainly coming together as of late and are either winning or keeping it close. As for the Skins although they battled last week, I’m not sure they will keep that up given Grossman’s track record.

Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers

Score: Chargers 35 – Broncos 23

Spread: Chargers (-3.5)

Note – Chargers need a win more then ever. They will face off against Tebow who is 4-1 as a starter this year. They need to pressure Tebow and make him throw, throw throw. Let his arm beat you, not his feet. The Chargers will get a big game from Rivers, who I believe is due.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs

Score: Steelers 37 – Chiefs 10

Spread: Steelers (-9.5)

Note – This should be utter domination, with known reasons why.

New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints

Score: Saints 34 – Giants 23

Spread: Saints (-6.5)

Note – I think Jimmy Graham is in for a huge night, he will be the X Factor in this game. I think the Saints offense presents problems for the Gians lb’s and rather weak depth at cornerback.

The Sport Report NFL Power Rankings: Week 12

Posted by KDog13 on November 24, 2011

1.  Green Bay Packers (10-0) (Even) The Packers are rolling but will face there toughest test to date as they visit the Lions on Thanksgiving.

2.  San Francisco 49ers (9-1) (Even) – Along with the Packers, the 49ers will also face there toughest test as they face the Ravens in a playoff atmosphere type game.

3.  New Orleans Saints (7-3) (Even) – These next two games will be a test to the Saints , after that the schedule is a Bree’s with the exception of the Falcons.

4.  Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3) (Even) – The Steelers D should enjoy the Chiefs just as much as the Patriots D did.

5.  Baltimore Ravens (7-3) (Even) – Impressive win but I fell like every week I’m saying impressive or terrible. Anyways, big showdown for the Ravens as they welcome in the 9-1 49ers.

6.  Houston Texans (7-3) (Even) – Leinart will have a good practice game to welcome him back as a starter in the Jaguars. Also Andre Johnson returning is a boost.

7.  New England Patriots (7-3) (+1) – A nice win, and better yet a game against the all injured team Chiefs is next.

8.  Chicago Bears (7-3) (+1) – With Cutler out for the regular season, can Hanie save the Bears from falling out of the Wildcard?

9.  Detroit Lions (7-3) (+1) – It was a shootout but the Lions came out with the much needed win. The Packers visit on Thanksgiving and given the implication….sh*t just got real.

10.  Dallas Cowboys (6-4) (+4) – A closer game than thought against the Skins but a win no less. Now a chance to further build momentum with a win over the recently hot Dolphins.

11.  New York Giants (6-4) (-4) – The next few games don’t get any easier for the G Men, Saints and Packers.

12.  Atlanta Falcons (6-4) (+1) Still stick around and will have a favorable matchup against the Vikings. After that, a game with plenty of implication, the Texans.

13.  Oakland Raiders (6-4) (+2) – The Raiders are starting to put wins together in the most opportune time.

14.  New York Jets (5-5) (-3)  - They just got Tebow’d, wonder what Rex Ryan will do to keep his Super Bowl champion Jets squad from falling under 500.

15.  Cincinnati Bengals (6-4) (-1) – While they are competitive, they still haven’t beaten a team of significance besides the recent downward spiraling Bills.

16.  Denver Broncos (5-5) (+2) – Tebow is 4-1 as a starter, and had an amazing 94 yard drive where he did it all.

17.  Buffalo Bills (5-5) (-1) – Like I said last week “This is starting to remind of the old Bills. Fast start…collapsing end”.

18.  Tennessee Titans (5-5) (-1) If anyone saw Jake Locker’s outing, there’s a reason to have hope. But, all that dies if Hasselbeck starts.

19.  Seattle Seahawks (4-6) (+3) – Seahawks are making a quiet run.

20.  Philadelphia Eagles (4-6) (+4) – A solid win, they need to keep rolling the table.

21.  Kansas City Chiefs (4-6) (-2) – They claimed Orton a week to late as this week they face the Steelers which should have them at 4-7.

22.  San Diego Chargers (4-6) (-2) – An I quote “This team can’t buy a win”.

23.  Cleveland Browns (4-6) (+3) – Browns could very well be 5-5, but then again could very well be 3-7..maybe worse.

24.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6) (-3) – A season that had hope, died quickly.

25.  Miami Dolphins (3-7) (+3) – On a 3 win streak and face the Cowboys…can they get 4?

26.  Arizona Cardinals (3-7) (-3) – A horrible outing by Skelton, but an impressive one in relief by Bartel.

27.  Washington Redskins (3-7) (-2) – Battled but came up short.

28.  Jacksonville Jaguars (3-7) (-1) – I just dont see why you dont give the ball to your best player….MJD!!!!

29.  St. Louis Rams (2-8) (Even) – The looked terrible, in a very very winnable game.

30.  Minnesota Vikings (2-8) (-5) – To me there is no difference to the Vikings without AP…it’s not like they run him enough….

31. Carolina Panthers (2-8) (Even) – A shootout but a game they had but if they keep this up….Smith n Blackmon for Cam would be exciting.

32.  Indianapolis Colts (0-10) (Even) – The question is Luck or Peyton?
