According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News ( Twitter ), Nick Swisher has signed with the Indians. A four year, $56 million dollar deal with a 5th year option depending on plate appearances, to total $70 million.
My Thoughts;
Honestly, Swisher is not a bad player but I just don’t see him being worth this much. But, then again everyone in baseball is overpaid, so it doesn’t mean much to say that. The Indians have a decent team, and I think Swisher should help them, but I’m not sure he is the missing ingredient at that cost to really make them a playoff team.

MLB: White Sox acquire Manny Ramirez from the Dodgers
With Manny Ramirez sitting on the bench for the Dodgers, It was only how long till he was wearing a new jersey. The Dodgers really didn’t need Manny Ramirez with all the acquisitions they made. The Dodgers acquired Scott Podsednik in a trade, and added Jay Gibbons. They already have Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, and Reed Johnson. Trading Manny shouldn’t affect them all too much, so this deal made sense at this time. Manny will pack his bags to go to the Chicago White Sox where he should have a fun time with Ozzie Guillen. Ramirez also adds power to the White Sox and will most likely be there Designated Hitter. The White Sox have too many starters at Outfield for Ramirez too crack an outfield spot. The Dodgers are pondering over whether to take prospect 3b Jon Gilmore and eat some of Ramirez’s contract or get cash. This will be Manny’s 4th team in his 17 seasons. Manny Ramirez is in his final year of his 2 year, $40 million. contract.

NFL: Vikings acquire Greg Camarillo from the Dolphins
With news of Sidney Rice getting surgery on his hip, the Vikings went out and traded for Greg Camarillo. Camarillo is a favorite among Dolphins fans for his notable touchdown in overtime to beat the Ravens for there first win in the 2007 season. Last season Camarillo had 52 receptions for 552 yards and an average of 11 yards per catch. Camarillo is a silent workhouse among the league, very sure handed as he didn’t drop a single pass last season. Brett Favre now has a new option to throw to in Camarillo, for fantasy lovers in deep leagues grab him. The Dolphins in return will receive veteran cornerback Benny Sapp. With Will Allen hurt with a knee injury, Sapp will provide depth. RB Brian Westbrook signs with the San Francisco 49ers (1 year, 1.25M)
This is a good signing for the 49ers. They just lost their backup running back Glen Coffee due to a surprising and unexpected retirement. Which leaves them with rookie Anthony Dixon, and Michael Robinson for the backup role. Dixon shined in the first preseason game, and Robinson didn’t. The signing of Westbrook should create a tougher battle to be the backup running back.

The New England Patriots OG Logan Mankins contract re-negotiations are far off with the team. The Patriots had offered Mankins money that would make him the 3rd highest paid guard but he wanted more years. So far both the team and Mankins seem unlikely to get a deal off soon.
