Betting Tip #3: Parlay
Posted by KDog13 on January 1, 2013
Well I’m 0-2, and I need a win badly. It’s not much of a tip for you guys if I can’t get one right. I like parlays better, but they can be harder to hit. I’ll give it a whirl though, and reveal my picks with a brief reason as to why.
Picks: Odds via Topbet
College Football; Florida St. (-530), Florida (-500) Baketball; (Knicks -500), and Lakers (-450)
Florida St. Seminoles (-530): The interesting thing about this game is that Northern Illinois actually isn’t completely outmatched here. Despite being a mid-major, they have one of the better offenses I’ve seen. Now, to not get all gushy about them, I did pick Florida St. That is simply because Florida State has a better defense than Northern Illinois by a good margin. The offenses both can put up numbers, but I’m not so sure Northern Illinois’s defense can make enough stops to stop Florida State from pulling away in this one.

Florida Gators (-500): I’ve seen enough of Louisville to tell you that they have a bright future, but this game isn’t going to end well. Florida is going to blow them out, and probably hold them to only 10 points or so. Easy pick in my opinion.

New York Knicks (-500): I really like the Knicks in this game especially at home. The Knicks in their last outing almost capped off an insane comeback against the Kings. Down 27 at one point, they actually lead late in the game, only to lose on a buzzer beater three by a guy who hit his first of the season. It was a bizarre game to say the least. Now, Granted Felton is out, they will possibly have Carmelo Anthony back. Also Amare Stoudemire is expected to be making his debut, and coming off the bench. I think the Portland Trailblazers have a pretty decent team, and can build around Damian Lillard, LeMarcus Aldridge, and Wesley Matthews. But, the Knicks have too much depth for Portland to keep pace. Knicks take this one.

Los Angeles Lakers (-450): Since Steve Nash has come back, the Lakers have started to pick it up. Clearly this team is better when healthy, and they will be a playoff team if they can keep clicking. The 76ers have been duds this year, especially on the road. I really can’t see them winning this game, and I don’t think it’s even going to be close. The Lakers have too much firepower at full health, and the 76ers just don’t look like the team that has surprised the last two season. Lakers by big.

Betting Tip: College Basketball
Posted by KDog13 on December 28, 2012
I like to parlay rather than do single bets, but after you swing and miss so many times, it’s almost better to just stick with doing single bets. I have a lock for today in college basketball, and although they are the favorite, it’s not by that much.
My Pick: Bowling Green (-150, via Topbet)
Now, I can’t say I’ve followed this team the entire year. But, I have of late since they have been playing some upper tier schools. They have fared quiet well in those matchups, and since losing three in a row early in the season, they look like a different team. They are 5-3 since then, and have a very nice defensive game to them. Last week they took South Florida to triple OT, where they lost by three. They would of won too, if not for Victor Rudd’s game tying 3-pointer with only 3.8 seconds left in regulation. Rudd also went bananas scoring 29 points. Now, the opponent Bowling Green will be facing is the 2-8 North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Granted the Fighting Sioux has played a pretty decent schedule, and most of their games were on the road, they have only been able to beat two non DI schools. I expect the trend to continue, and although it’s on their home court, that just means it might be a closer game. Bowling Green is the better team here, and should win in a low scoring game.
