Betting Tip #3: Parlay

Posted by KDog13 on January 1, 2013

Well I’m 0-2, and I need a win badly. It’s not much of a tip for you guys if I can’t get one right. I like parlays better, but they can be harder to hit. I’ll give it a whirl though, and reveal my picks with a brief reason as to why.

Picks: Odds via Topbet

College Football; Florida St. (-530), Florida (-500) Baketball; (Knicks -500), and Lakers (-450)

Florida St. Seminoles (-530): The interesting thing about this game is that Northern Illinois actually isn’t completely outmatched here. Despite being a mid-major, they have one of the better offenses I’ve seen. Now, to not get all gushy about them, I did pick Florida St. That is simply because Florida State has a better defense than Northern Illinois by a good margin. The offenses both can put up numbers, but I’m not so sure Northern Illinois’s defense can make enough stops to stop Florida State from pulling away in this one.

Florida Gators (-500): I’ve seen enough of Louisville to tell you that they have a bright future, but this game isn’t going to end well. Florida is going to blow them out, and probably hold them to only 10 points or so. Easy pick in my opinion.

New York Knicks (-500): I really like the Knicks in this game especially at home. The Knicks in their last outing almost capped off an insane comeback against the Kings. Down 27 at one point, they actually lead late in the game, only to lose on a buzzer beater three by a guy who hit his first of the season. It was a bizarre game to say the least. Now, Granted Felton is out, they will possibly have Carmelo Anthony back. Also Amare Stoudemire is expected to be making his debut, and coming off the bench. I think the Portland Trailblazers have a pretty decent team, and can build around Damian Lillard, LeMarcus Aldridge, and Wesley Matthews. But, the Knicks have too much depth for Portland to keep pace. Knicks take this one.

Los Angeles Lakers (-450): Since Steve Nash has come back, the Lakers have started to pick it up. Clearly this team is better when healthy, and they will be a playoff team if they can keep clicking. The 76ers have been duds this year, especially on the road. I really can’t see them winning this game, and I don’t think it’s even going to be close. The Lakers have too much firepower at full health, and the 76ers just don’t look like the team that has surprised the last two season. Lakers by big.

Carmelo Anthony’s Team Wishlist

Posted by clutchcitycowboy on August 20, 2010

Denver Nuggets SF Carmelo Anthony has 3 teams he’s willing to be traded to before season’s end:

To acquire Melo, however, teams are going to have dig deep in their pockets, and rosters, to come up with a suitable trade for the Denver Nuggets to accept. Let’s break down the 3 teams, and what they could offer that Denver might accept.

New York Knicks are his first choice for obvious reasons. It’s his home team, and it’s the largest market in the USA. Not to mention, there’s a dominating PF who goes by the nickname of STAT. Knicks have a couple of players I could see going to the Nuggets, including, but not limited to, Kelenna Azuibuke, Anthony Randolph, Wilson Chandler, and Eddy Curry’s contract.

New Jersey Nets are a little less appealing, but still closer to his home. Devin Harris and rookie forward Derrick Favors could possibly by used as trade bait, as well as perhaps Brook Lopez, but giving those players up would deplete the talent on a Nets team who is already lacking in that department, a situation Melo himself could not fix.

Houston Rockets are another option Melo has expressed interest in being traded to with a contract extension, and in my opinion, it could be the best deal for him and the Nuggets. The Rockets are about 13 players deep in tradeable talent. Failure to lure in Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire in the offseason has had fans frantically searching for a star to come into Houston and help bring them to prominence, and GM Daryl Morey has been hard at work bringing in players who could be used as trade bait. The recent acquisition of Courtney Lee seems to be one of those moves. Players I could see being up for grabs include: Courtney Lee, Chase Budinger, Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries contract, Shane Battier, Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, and a few others. As you can see, the Rockets seem to have more value to trade away than the Knicks and Nets. Money will really be the only obstacle for Morey and owner Les Alexander to figure out, but if Nuggets accept, I’m sure they can find a way.

NBA: Raptors trade Marco Belinelli to the Hornets for Julian Wright

Posted by KDog13 on August 12, 2010

NBA: Raptors trade Marco Belinelli to the Hornets for Julian Wright

The Hornets have been busy the last two days in trades. On August 11th they acquired G/F Trevor Ariza and traded away G Darren Collison, and F James Posey. Now on August 12th they have acquired G/F Marco Belinelli from the Toronto Raptors for F Julian Wright. Marco Belinelli will fill in the role of the 3 point specialist in which James Posey played. Julian Wright will be an instant fit as the Small Foward backup. Wright adds depth to a Raptors team stacked with guards. Wright is an athletic young player who can develop with some playing time.

NBA: Hornets, Rockets, Nets, and Pacers complete a 4 team, 5 player trade

Posted by KDog13 on August 12, 2010

Hornets, Rockets, Nets, and Pacers complete a 4 team, 5 player trade

A 4 team, 5 player trade has added a shake up to an already free agent madness.

The Deal:

Hornets Trade: G Darren Collison, and F James Posey

Hornets Acquire: G/F Trevor Ariza

Pacers Trade: F/C Troy Murphy

Pacers Acquire: G Darren Collison, and F James Posey

Nets Trade: G Courtney Lee

Nets Acquire: F/C Troy Murphy

Rockets Trade: G/F Trevor Ariza

Rockets Acquire: G Courtney Lee

My Opinion: I thought the player with the most upside and talent is Darren Collison. So I liked who the Pacers acquired although having to take Posey’s contract he still can play a role with the team. I thought the Hornets made out well in acquiring Ariza. Ariza is a athletic player who plays both offense and defense. He also is a decent three pointer shooter which adds to his skills. The Rockets I though traded a better player in a Ariza now to acquire a young developing player in Courtney Lee. I think Lee can be really good with time as long as he turns himself into a better 3 point shooter. He already has the speed and quickness to find lanes to the hoop. Adding a more accurate 3 pointer will make him even more deadly. The Nets who already added G Anthony Morrow who I think was one of the better free agents available I guess though it was time to trade Courtney Lee. They added Troy Murphy who is a solid rebounder and can hit the 3′s for a big man. He is a good addition to the Nets who have a rookie starting at power forward. It is hard to let go of a promising Courtney Lee but at least they got back a position that needed more depth. A nice trade all around.

NBA: The Diesel Shaquille O’Neal is signing with the Celtics

Posted by KDog13 on August 4, 2010

NBA: The Diesel Shaquille O’Neal is signing with the Celtics

After finding interest from many teams from the start of free agents to only being heavily targeted by one, Shaq joined the Celtics. The Atlanta Hawks were interested but not that interested, Shaq lobbied Europe but ultimately decided to go the Celtics. Shaq immediately will be an impact as he will fill in the much needed role of backup center which was fellow Celtic Rasheed Wallace who is set to retire. The deal is 2 years but the amount is not yet known. Shaq is looking for another ring or two and is happy to join a team that came a game away from it. Will keep you updated on the contract situation.

NBA: Jason Williams re-signs with the Magic, and Shaq close with Celtics

Posted by KDog13 on August 3, 2010

NBA: Jason Williams re-signs with the Magic, and Shaq close with Celtics

The Magic took away a potential suitor to join the Miami Superheat in guard Jason Williams. Jason Williams had been lobbying to join the Heat but decided to comeback and play for the Magic. Williams is set to sign a 2 years contract but the amount is unknown. Williams could also be an asset to lure in Chris Paul maybe during the season or next year pending what happens.

Shaq and the Celtics seem to be near a deal. With the Atlanta Hawks not making progressions it seems Shaq only has one option. That is in joining the Celtics. He would be an immediate impact as a replacement for Rasheed Wallace. Shaq also lobbied to play in Europe. Shaq still eyes the money though his play has declined. Will update you when it is a done deal.

NBA: Shannon Brown to Knicks, Cavs, or Lakers plus News, Signings, and Rumors

Posted by KDog13 on August 1, 2010

NBA: Shannon Brown to Knicks, Cavs, or Lakers plus News, Signings, and Rumors

Shannon Brown is being targeted by 3 teams. The Knicks have offered Brown around 4 million with an a increased role in the D’Antoni system. The Lakers are trying to trade Sasha Vujacic to pave the way for Brown to be back for around 5 million plus a increased role as well. The Cavaliers on the other hand are still looking at Brown although recently acquiring Ramon Sessions but seem like the 3rd option for Brown. So where is Brown going to go? Brown wants to go back to the Lakers but has to wait till the Lakers clear some cap room in attempt to trade Sasha Vujacic. It’s a tough call here in my opinion for Brown because the Lakers signed Barnes and before you meaning that you weren’t there first choice. The playing time might not be what they say either. The Knicks on the other hand would be a pretty good fit. He possibly could be a starter or a 6th man type player and the playing time would be good as well. If he is good with just having his 2 rings and wants money now, i’d say go to the Cavaliers and make them pay up especially for trading you in the past.

The Chicago Bulls are looking at G Roger Mason and G Keith Bogans but also are in play to trade for Portland Trail Blazers G/F Rudy Fernandez which leads to bad signs of McGrady being a Bull

C Shaquille O’Neal is still lobbying playing for the Celtics, and also the Hawks remain interested in his services as well

C Kwame Brown has generated interest from the Celtics with Shaq not certain on joining them

G Chris Quinn is being looked at by the Phoenix Suns

G Von Wafer signs with the Boston Celtics (TBA)

C Anthony Tolliver has cut his list of teams to play for to only 2. The Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

G/F Joey Graham signs with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2 years, 2.1M)

C Kyrylo Fesenko is set to re-sign with the Utah Jazz

The Celtics are interested in a few centers such as Kwame Brown, and Shaquille O’Neal which leaves Brian Scalabrine left out

G Mike James want to play for the Utah Jazz and has turned down clubs from Europe

F Tim Thomas will return to the Mavericks most likely within the month

Posted by KDog13 on July 29, 2010

NBA: Eddie House to the Heat, News, Signings, and Rumors

G Eddie House signs with the Miami Heat (2 years, 2.8M)

Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright was found dead after being reported missing for nearly a week. Wright was last seen in Memphis boarding a plane. Wright’s body was found in a wooded area in Memphis. Wright was 34 years young and will be deeply missed.

G Stephon Marbury has agreed to stay 3 more years for a China basketball team

G/F Rudy Fernandez to the Knicks seems unlikely since the Portland Trail Blazers want Wilson Chandler who the Knicks aren’t interested in trading for Fernandez.

G Allen Iverson wants to make a return but not too many teams are interested especially if won’t agree to come off the bench.

The Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers are looking at G Roger Mason. Chicago seems like the more likely spot.

G Earl Watson possible landing spots are the Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves

G Jason Williams might re-sign with the Orlando Magic soon but has other teams interested in services such as the Miami Heat

The Los Angeles Lakers are offering any team that takes Sasha Vujacic a 1st round pick with him.

Indiana Pacers F Mike Dunleavy is on the trade block. The Pacers have received some calls for F/C Troy Murphy but it is unlikely he is dealt to the health concerns of Jeff Foster and Tyler Hansbrough.

The Heat, Bulls, Clippers still looking at G/F Tracy McGrady but no deals have been made yet.

The Rockets trade C David Anderson to the Toronto Raptors for a 2nd round pick

G Will Bynum re-signs with the Detroit Pistons (3 years, 10.5M)

G Kenny Hasbrouck signs with the Miami Heat (1 year, TBA)

F Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies)

G Eric Gordon (Los Angeles Clippers)

F Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers)

F Jeff Green (Oklahoma City Thunder)

G/F Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers)

C Brook Lopez (New Jersey Nets)

F/C Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves)

F Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers)

G Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics)

G Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls)

Head Coach: Mike Krzyzewski (Duke University)

Assistant Coach: Jim Boeheim  (Syracuse University)

Assistant Coach: Mike D’Antoni (New York Knicks)

Assistant Coach: Nate McMillan (Portland Trail Blazers)

Team Physician: Steve Traina (Denver Nuggets)
