UFC 118 Penn vs Edgar II Results: Edgar dominates Penn to retain lightweight belt

UFC 118 Penn vs Edgar II Results: Edgar dominates Penn to retain lightweight belt
Quick Write Up: I’m happy Edgar retained his belt despite picking against him. Once again he was just too fast for Penn. The Toney pick was just off more of thinking he’d catch him, more than actuality. I knew Couture would Ground and Pound Toney but was hoping for the element of surprise, which was an epic fail. Maia was too much for Miranda but you know what Miranda impressed all with his submission defense. Miranda just needs to work on takedown defense. Maynard technically smothered Florian the whole fight to earn a long awaited title shot against Frankie Edgar. Nate Diaz used his reach advantage to batter Marcus Davis and finished him off by submitting him in the 3rd. Davis was a warrior because he took a lot of punches to his swollen shut eye, but kept going.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
Main Card:
Frankie Edgar def. B.J. Penn by unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)
——————————————————————————————————
Randy Couture def. James Toney by submission (arm-triangle choke) Round 1 (3:19)
——————————————————————————————————

——————————————————————————————————

——————————————————————————————————
Nate Diaz def. Marcus Davis by submission (guillotine choke) Round 3 (4:02)
——————————————————————————————————
Preliminary card (Spike TV):
Joe Lauzon def. Gabe Ruediger by submission (armbar) Round 1 (2:01)
——————————————————————————————————
Nik Lentz def. Andre Winner ny unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
——————————————————————————————————
Preliminary card:
Mike Pierce def. Amilcar Alves by submission (cross-body armbar)Round 3 (3:11)
——————————————————————————————————
Greg Soto def. Nick Osipczak by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
——————————————————————————————————
Dan Miller def. John Salter by submission (anaconda choke) Round 2 (1:53)
——————————————————————————————————
UFC 118 Predictions Results: After a great 10-1 showing at UFC 117, I wanted to carry the momentum into UFC 118. I started out great at 7-1 heading into the joke fight of Toney vs Couture. I picked Toney of course but knew who would really win. Penn losing didn’t help but I’m not mad about that because I really wanted Edgar to win again. So, I finished up 7-3 which is pretty good. My total record now is 46-28.
